On October 14th, 2008, Seventy-Two riders in teams of six will cycle in relay style from Halifax, Nova Scotia
to Austin, Texas (4,300km). Riders will join forces with Lance Armstrong and his LiveStrong Challenge on October 25-26,
2008. The LiveStrong Challenge is the Lance Armstrong Foundation's signature fundraising event, raising funds and awareness
for the fight against cancer with over 3,000 participants - including many survivors.
The Cycle for Life ride will be completed in about twelve days. Each team member will be required to bike approximately
100km a day (approx 5-6 hours of biking) and then have 24 hours off to rest, eat and complete shared responsibilities
on the ride (such as Laundry, oraganizing and planning.) Each rider will be required to individually fundraise $5,000 to
participate and the Tony Griffin Foundation will cover all food and accomodations to Austin, Texas as well as flights
back to Halifax, Nova Scotia.
There will be Health Professionals, a Bike Mechanic and (TGF) will provide each rider with
fundraising support, marketing materials, some cool gear and the chance to meet Lance Armstrong. Our top fundraisers
will recieve VIP priviledges during the LiveStrong Challenge in Austin, Texas.
This ride and the associated fundraisers will have an opportunity to celebrate life and make a difference. Joining the LiveStrong Challenge is guaranteed to be very powerful and inspiring experience. It will be a chance to support those
living with and affected by cancer, celebrate survivors, and raise awareness in Canada and abroad!
